Here are a list of things you can do and things you can avoid to help you achieve these results!
When blow-drying your hair, make sure you’re not pressing your hairdryer onto your hair, this will cause the hair shaft to expand and the outer layers to curl up, giving your hair a frizzy look.
Regularly use a treatment on your hair. Lather your hair with a tablespoon of almond oil, mixed with a tablespoon of jojoba oil, leave it on overnight, and use clean shampoo and condition (we recommend Kevin Murphy products) as normal the next morning.
Be careful how you rub your hair. Drying your hair gently from root to tip (is the correct way) and it will give your hair a shinier and smoother look.
Your hair needs a break! Give your hair an extra day or two without washing or blow-drying.
Never spray perfume in your hair – it contains chemicals that will dry out the hair and it will alter the color of your hair. If you are prone to an oily scalp, avoid putting conditioner on your roots.
Do you over-brush your hair? Over brushing will spread sebum which helps lock moisture into the skin and it helps protect the skin from UV radiation down the length of the hair, which will make it appear greasy.
Do you rinse and repeat? You should only need to shampoo once. If your hair doesn’t feel sticky there’s no need to shampoo more than once.
Stop your nervous habits of chewing or twirling your hair, it will split the ends and cause your hair to break more easily. Wrap your hair in a towel to absorb moisture after washing it will help your hair by not needing as much heat to dry it.
Try to not rely on styling products. Make yourself a hair appointment and get a good cut and conditioning treatment and you’ll leave with your hair feeling amazing!
Find a product with a UV filter or wear a hat when your head is exposed to the sun. This will reduce fading if your hair is colored.
Toss your metal brushes and metal combs. They don’t have much give and will lead to damaged hair cuticles.
Do you want to stimulate hair growth? Massage your scalp when shampooing your hair.
Don’t over do it with hair treatments. Coloring, straightening and bleaching processes all weakens your hair.
If you struggle with greasy hair, it could be a side effect from fatty foods. Eliminate strong tea and coffee because both contain stimulants that increase activity of the sebaceous glands, that will give you greasy hair.
Avoid silicon-based products such as two-in-one shampoos and conditioners as they leave residue on the hair shaft that will leave your hair looking dull. We don’t want dull hair, we want rich, clean and healthy hair!
Leave your conditioner in as long as possible. If your hair needs moisture, smooth it all over your hair and put on a shower cap, let it sit while you do all your other beauty treatments in the shower, then rinse out.
Avoid teasing or backcombing your hair. It increases friction and will knot more easily and be harder to detangle. The less friction your hair has the better! Your hair will feel softer and be easier to handle. Go to the salon and get regular trims; even if it’s a micro-trim, it going to help prevent spilt ends and breakage.
